Jerry's singing
I agree with the positive reviews, but would like to add one thing: Jerry's vocals are often beautiful, especially in Candyman and Black Peter. Delicate and expressive. 1978 had more than its fair share of sloppy singing, but his singing during this show reminds me of 1974.

Tough To Improve On 1977
Highlights here begin with Let It Grow and Truckin'. 1978 is a great year for Truckin'. Rupp Arena and Rochester 11/21 are also out of this world. For more depth, 1972 Truckin's are most impressive. Truckin' takes on an awesome position in the lineup then. See 5/26/72. Furthermore, I like '77 and '81 Terrapin's more. The piano sound doesn't do it for me in Terrapin one bit. Sugar Magnolia is great in '78 though, see 9/2/78 an awesome version and second set.

LET IT GROW!!!- Best-all time #1 musical peice by any band ever!
Thsi show is killer for 3 reasons:1. Let it Grow: the noodling that jerry is playing around with is the music to a national geographic show of a great white shark munching down a seal- or family of! Jerry absolutely rips up the jams- nothing else to say- it is by far the best individual rock peice of any band ever- BETTER THAN THE CORNBELL SCARLET>FIRE! WHAT ? oH YES THAT IS RIGHT,better than Cornell (in terms of mastering an individual peice, each tune has its place in dead lore, this Let it grow MUST be nnumber 1.
2. I streamed it via an fm transitter to my cdburner and ripped a killer show on disc.
3. Yes, once again Iam raving about a scarlet fire, this one is not betetr than cornell but it still rips and offers nice sleak driumming into space and the whole space drums sequence actuallyt is long and killer!.
I hope you will enjoy this kind dead show. No special rarities except that Jannuary shows are somewhat considered rare. I give this 5 stars for a killer set f jams and the let it grow people, get out of jerry;s way he just may eat you if you don't let him jim wiht the stereo cranked. TURN IT UP! KInd sbd kind show kinds band...heart of gold band...

2nd Set gets a 4
The 2nd set recording of this, being mostly sounboard origin is vastly better sounding than the 1st set. That being said, I think the SB portion of this show is the best part of the show, so check it out. Very good stuff.

Oh Scarlet
I did get a ticket stub (I was standing in the Chicago cold, searching for a miracle, when from the side doors a deadhead's soon to be ex-girlfriend bounded down the stairs with stunned boyfriend in tow...) for the second half of this show at the Lovely Uptown, (Now Closed Down). Jerry at a peak. Second set as good as they get. It seems this recording gets cleaner for the second set. Thank you IA, and the Dead franchise for this gift. CD
